THE FOUNDER AND THE PRESIDENT OF PATHWAY YOUTH DEVELOPMENT FOUNDATION (PYDF) CONDEMNS THE BARBARIC KILLING OF CHRISTIAN WORSHIPPERS, KIDNAPPING, THE DESTRUCTION OF CHURCHES, AND VULNERABLE COMMUNITIES, DEMANDS IMMEDIATE JUSTICE AND TOTAL CRACKDOWN ON BANDITORY.
I express my deepest sorrow and strongest condemnation of the recent, brutal attacks on churches and the relentless killings across Nigeria. Targeting innocent worshippers, families, and defenceless communities is a senseless and cowardly act of violence that must be unequivocally denounced by the global community. Places of worship should always remain sanctuaries of peace and safety. The ongoing bloodshed, abductions, and destruction of communities tear at the fabric of society and cannot be normalized. I stand in solidarity with the families of the victims, the injured, and all who have been traumatized by these atrocities. It is quite unfortunate that the government authorities have failed in their primary constitutional responsibilities to provide adequate security for the innocent Nigerian citizens. Instead of taking proactive measures to end this horrible menace, our political leaders who are saddled with the responsibilities of protecting the citizens are busy conducting and contesting party primary election across the country.
I therefore urgently call on the Nigerian government, religious leaders, and political leaders to take decisive action to protect vulnerable communities, hold perpetrators accountable, and restore peace to all affected region and the nation at large. No ideology or conflict justifies the taking of innocent human life. May the victims rest in peace, and may those affected find comfort and strength during this unimaginable time of grief
